My Story

George Madgwick is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a specialized focus on the mental health needs of first responders. A retired firefighter with nearly 20 years of operational experience, George brings both lived insight and clinical expertise to his work in psychotherapy.

He holds a Master of Science in Psychotherapy from McMaster University and provides trauma-informed, evidence-based care for individuals experiencing posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), operational stress injuries, mood disorders, and related difficulties. His therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

George has clinical experience in both outpatient private practice and hospital-based settings, working with youth and adults across a range of concerns. During his tenure with the Brantford Fire Department, he chaired the Wellness and Fitness Initiative, developing peer support and behavioral health programs tailored to the fire service. He has completed extensive professional development through the International Association of Firefighters in suicide prevention, anger management, and recovery-focused interventions.

With a deep understanding of the culture and demands of frontline work, George is committed to helping first responders and their families navigate the impacts of trauma, strengthen psychological flexibility, and reconnect with their core values
