One Year Anniversary of Inward Focus

It is hard to believe that Inward Focus turns One so it is only fitting that the first blog post acknowledges its one-year anniversary of the brick-and-mortar existence. However, in all honesty, I have attempted multiple times to write a blog post, but work, school, and life have gotten in the way. But today I am writing that first post, and at the end of the day, that is all that matters.

This past year has been one of challenges, successes, and a few rough spots, but overall, it has been filled with growth and gratitude. To me, the one-year anniversary of Inward Focus speaks to the trust that others have placed in the clinic and myself to help them navigate life’s difficulties. It has been a privilege to have been the choice of countless individuals who have wanted to work with the collective of therapists at Inward Focus and myself.  It is an honour to hold space for others as they heal and navigate their personal struggles and be a part of their life journey.

Going forward, I hope to be able to post consistently to the blog on a variety of topics ranging from common concerns and issues that bring people to therapy and my research on the culture of policing and its impact on officer well-being. Posting about my research is about being transparent about the research process and the knowledge that it provides, so that those impacted by toxic workplaces understand why what they experience is so impactful. And, although my focus is on policing, there will be an applicability to any workplace. But most of all, I hope my posts will provide others with a different perspective to consider, an awareness that there might be another way to see and understand a situation that is causing them distress and is disruptive to their enjoyment of life.

So, with that, I will thank you to anyone and everyone who has been part of the Inward Focus journey with me, and I look forward to the next year of this journey.

Happy New Year and Happy One-Year Anniversary.
